Personal Statement

My career goal is to work at the intersection of marketing, data, and business strategy, with a strong focus on professional services marketing. I am particularly interested in roles where building trust, networking, and clearly communicating value are critical to securing and retaining clients. I am drawn to environments where relationships, credibility, and long-term client impact drive business success.

I have always been interested in marketing because it blends storytelling, psychology, and data to influence how people interact with brands. Through my studies in Public Relations and Marketing at Thompson Rivers University, I have developed skills in strategic communication, digital marketing, campaign planning, and data-driven decision making. These experiences have shown me how powerful marketing can be when creativity is supported by research and analytics.

I am especially interested in applying these skills within professional services firms, where marketing plays a key role in positioning expertise, building strong client relationships, and driving business growth.

Throughout my time at TRU, I have focused on building practical experience through leadership roles, internships, and project-based work. As Co-President and Co-Founder of the TRUSU Accounting & Finance Club, I have organized industry panels and networking events that connect students with professionals from organizations such as RBC, TD, and Grant Thornton. These events required strong project management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills, from recruiting speakers to promoting the event and managing logistics. In addition, my internship with the Central Interior Business Accelerator has allowed me to create marketing materials, design digital assets, and support outreach initiatives for the entrepreneurial community in Kamloops. These experiences have strengthened my ability to manage projects, communicate professionally with industry leaders, and apply marketing concepts in real-world settings.

My portfolio reflects TRU’s institutional learning outcomes, particularly Connection and Engagement. Through organizing panels, workshops, and collaborative projects, I have developed the ability to connect students, industry professionals, and community organizations in meaningful ways. These experiences demonstrate how engagement beyond the classroom can create valuable learning opportunities and strengthen professional networks. I have also explored the relationship between marketing, entrepreneurship, and analytics through academic projects and internships, which reflects TRU’s emphasis on Exploration and Local-to-Global thinking. By working with local businesses and entrepreneurs while studying broader marketing and analytics concepts, I have gained insight into how local initiatives connect to global business strategies. These experiences have shaped my career direction and strengthened my commitment to building a career in which strategy, creativity, and data work together to drive meaningful results.
